Gone But Not Forgotten

The amazing animals that are waiting for us at the Bridge... deeply missed and forever loved

Halo was our foundation female. In her one breeding, she produced our beloved girls Duma and Zelda. She was fearless, no sense of self preservation. Halo did everything with a contagious enthusiasm and joy. Phenomenal with our children, a wonderful house pet, and a powerful working dog, Halo was always willing to go to war with any decoy who challenged her; we never found any man, any distraction, any environmental that threw her off. We lost Halo to a tragic traffic accident when she was only 5, and she is still deeply missed.

Duma was the strongest Doberman bitch we've ever seen. From 6 weeks old she was all gas and no brakes. Duma was a prey monster, nerves of steel, socially dominant, a dog who thrived on conflict and loved going head to head with new decoys. Duma was a very sharp dog, and accumulated many live bites in her career as a personal protection dog, and was a beauty to behold on the trial field, making an impression on even the doberman doubters. Duma was the ideal temperament with small children, soft and submissive and gentle. The little ones could not get under her skin, she met even the most obnoxious toddler behavior with a flurry of kisses. Duma was our best and most consistent producer, and we are so grateful to have her puppies in our home and lives. We lost Duma to a spinal injury (the specialist at Ohio State University Veterinary Hospital believed it to be a ruptured disc) resulting in euthanasia the day after her 6th birthday, and we are still rocked by this unexpected and devastating loss.

Ursa was an extremely special girl to our family. She came to us at 8 weeks old, and we enjoyed several sports together. Ursa was extremely intelligent, biddable, and loyal to a fault. She was social with people but her "mom" was her person and there wasn't anything she wouldn't have done for "mom". She lived for bitework and earned her PSA1, and dabbled in Mondio. We always intended to go for her Mondioring 1 title... we just thought we had more time. She was in excellent shape, loved to retrieve anything and would play ball until she dropped.
Just a few months shy of her 8th birthday, Ursa was spayed. Her internal incision dehisced and she rapidly became septic, despite aggressive antibiotics, and our vet was unable to save her.
